Update on Overflow for Sir Winston Churchill High School

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,

This letter is to provide an update on Sir Winston Churchill High School’s enrolment and the school’s overflow status for the 2024-25 school year.

Sir Winston Churchill High School is projected to remain at its capacity for the 2024-25 school year.

We last informed you in June that the overflow for new students registering for Sir Winston Churchill High School will be William Aberhart High School. The school’s enrolment has not lowered to a level that can accommodate additional students beyond the projected incoming students for the 2024-25 school year. Because of this, the overflow will remain in place for the 2024-25 school year until notification of its removal.

We anticipate that we will be able to accept all incoming Grade 10 students designated to attend Sir Winston Churchill High School for the 2024-25 school year, and a lottery should not be required. However, if registrations for new Grade 10 students during the 2024-25 school year exceed capacity, these new students would be overflowed and put on a call-back list.

New registrations for Grades 11 and 12 that cannot be accommodated at Sir Winston Churchill High School will continue to be overflowed to William Aberhart High School and put on a call-back list.

We will provide updates should there be any changes.

If you have questions or require additional information, please contact Sir Winston Churchill High School at sirwinstonchurchill@cbe.ab.ca.
